A special fundraiser organized by three Warrington councilors at the town’s Cinnamon Lounge restaurant raised more than £2,500 for the Ukraine Appeal.
The event was organized by Warrington advisers Mo Hussain, Anthony Higgins and Sagheer Zaman. The collaboration has raised £2,550 for the DEC (Disaster Emergency Committee) charities who have been on the front line helping those affected by the conflict in Ukraine: providing food, water , shelter and medical assistance.
The evening included a banquet for the participants and a draw. Prizes were donated by Cinnamon Lounge, Warrington Wolves, Livewire, Walton Gardens, Paul Taylor of Taylor Business and many more. Cllr Mo Hussain thanked the restaurant staff and management for their continued support. He added: “I would like to thank everyone who came and even those who couldn’t – but still donated for Ukraine.”
Cinnamon Lounge Manager Imran Malik commented, “Even amidst the current situation of rising costs; Warrington residents donated to help others. This is something we can be very proud of.
Cllr Tony Higgins said “many thanks to Cinnamon Lounge and its staff for organizing this short term event and for their support.
“This fundraiser was our way of raising much-needed funds that will be used to help Ukrainian citizens during this dreadful time”
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of every person who donated to help us reach this amount overnight for the DEC – Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
“Whether you helped raise funds or expressed words of solidarity, your support means a lot to the people of Ukraine.”
